11-25-00   Thanksgiving bounty: B & N, Backstage Chattanooga, Warehouse Row

This Thanksgiving has found me with a truly "bounteous harvest" of reasons to be thankful.

Being a guest on "Backstage Chattanooga" on Talk 102.3 FM (11-7) was an adventure.   Michelle Young was kind enough to sing along with me on the air, and added a touch of redeeming grace to the whole program, and also joined me on a couple of songs at the Backstage Jam afterward.  Maybe next time I'm on the show (and I do hope to do the show again one of these days), the webcam and streaming audio will be up for my far-flung friends to enjoy.  Hopefully there won't be any pesky, history-making presidential elections going on to distract people from the REALLY important stuff!

The Songwriters' Workshop at Barnes & Noble (11-10) with Michael Curtis and Krystye Wilson was a lot of fun, as well.  Good attendance by an attentive audience, good sound, and some remarkable talent to work with (i.e., Michael and Krystye) made for an enjoyable evening.   I even got to demonstrate my rudimentary percussion skills on the egg-shaker!

On top of all this, the aforementioned Michelle Young and I provided holiday music for shoppers at Warehouse Row as part of the Downtown Open House sponsored by the Chattanooga Downtown Partnership.  Move over, Steve Lawrence & Eydie Gourmet!  It's nice to be able to sing these songs before people have had a chance to get sick of hearing them (be honest, now).  Met local jazz artist Butch Cornell, who kept the music going after us.  Got a bit unseasonably warm when Michelle and Butch improvised ("summertime, and the livin' is easy...")!   Michelle will be jetting off to merry old England next week to continue work on her hopefully-almost-finished-and-soon-to-be-released CD.
