5-15-00   MayPraise & Relay for Life

Good friends, good music, and beautiful weather made for a thoroughly enjoyable weekend in Mt. Juliet at MayPraise, the festival I told you about. It was a good start on what promises to be an annual good-time-to-be-had-by-all. I saw a VH-1 special on music festivals the night before I performed; I told Paul, the MayPraise organizer, that as long as there was no arson, death, or public nudity he could consider it a successful event! He agreed, especially about the public nudity (this is a Baptist church we're talking about).

Last week I enjoyed performing at the Relay for Life, the fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. I didn't have a sit-down-and-listen type of audience, because people were walking the track, playing games, getting Elvis autographs, etc. But I got a good response nevertheless...and a T-shirt! I was privileged to be part of the luminary ceremony; very moving.

This weekend I go to Atlanta for the Babbie Mason Music Seminar. I plan to learn a lot, meet some people, enjoy.
